Deep Spa Cleaning - Leather Cleaning
Ink stains, pen marks & water stains are the most common types of stains on leathery handbags. But our cleaning process will only be able to remove any excess ink, pen mark colour and excessive water mark on the surface of the leather. Anything that has been absorbed into the leather tissue will require further treatment.
Lamb & Calf Leather
With age over the term of use, leather can become worn and discoloured. The dirt on the leather can sometimes hide this wear & tear and our cleaning process can expose it. If this happens on leather, you will be notified and offered to upgrade your service to restore the colour to these areas. It is not our cleaning process that has caused this damage.
Vachetta Leather
Vachetta is a raw and untreated cowhide leather. This means it is not coated with any sealants that would usually provide the leather with a degree of protection from the elements. This is what makes Vachetta leather susceptible to discolouration and water stains.
We can provide a degreasing treatment to Vachetta leather, and afterwards it will feel clean to the touch but in some cases, it might not have a significant difference in colour.
Exotic Leather
We term these ‘exotic’ skins simply to differentiate them from what we would call normal ‘leather’. The type of skins we refer to as exotic are : Python, Iguana, Lizard, Ostrich, Stingray, Crocodile, Alligator & Shark. Exotic leather cleaning is a very delicate process due to its uniqueness. Hence it requires a special cleaning technique that differs from normal leather work.
Suede / Nubuck
Nubuck is actually a type of suede and both are generally made of leather like calfskin, although they may also be made from the hide of a sheep/lamb, cow/calf, goat, or deer. At first sight, they both look and feel similar but are in fact created and treated differently
Its open-pored surface makes it challenging to keep clean as it easily gets scuffed, smudged, and it quickly absorbs liquids if it gets wet – something which can quickly cause its quality to deteriorate.
Therefore you will need to expect some colour lost, fur lost and texture change after the cleaning.
With age over the term of use, suede/nubuck leather can become worn and discoloured. The dirt on the leather can sometimes hide this wear & tear and our cleaning process can expose it. If this happens, you will be notified and offered to upgrade your service to restore the colour to these areas. It is not our cleaning process that causes the colour fade or loss.
Adhesives, defects, and faults which were previously camouflaged in manufacture may become more apparent after the cleaning process, and although every care is taken, we cannot always disguise natural flaws or totally remove adhesives, or other techniques employed by the manufacturer. All items are therefore only accepted by us for cleaning at your own risk.
